I had a very wholesome first of spring. This kind of post is more the kind I'd write in my diary, but I kind of feel like writing it here, especially because I can incorporate photos and videos. So let's begin.
The day before I'd had a lit theory tute in the morning, and then work pretty much straight after. I was sad because I hadn't been on the same shift as the cute boy from my boss' brother's restaurant for ages, but oh well, the world does not revolve around me (outrageous, I know. Paradigm-shifting, even). Work lasted till 3:45, and then I went into civic to get my nails done. The concept of that makes me squirm with self-indulgence, but I think part of it is internalised misogyny - a patriarchal society that requires we be manicured (pun intended) but punishes us for being absorbed in our appearances, via disrespect. Anyway, I tried to ignore the squirm and got my nails painted a blackish-purple-glittery colour. I proceeded to ruin them maybe less than 30 seconds after I walked out of the shop (Ha ha I'm so #relatable!! like and subscribe!!). Laura had texted me to say to come to her room at 5:30 because she had a surprise for me. I don't know how I didn't see this coming, but her, Lauren, Eleanor, and Jacq were there with a cake for me (it's my birthday on the 5th - I don't want to talk about it) and sang me happy birthday with a lighter as a makeshift candle and Lauren brought ice cream (vegan and non-vegan) that she gets to bring back from her new work, the newly-opened Messina. It was so cute.
Drove for another two hours (getting sleepy again) and then I was home. I helped dad make the ravioli for dinner that night (Mei Yee, Darnel, and Sam were to come over). Dad had already made the pasta sheets and the filling so it was just a matter of making the ravioli (it was more like ravioloni tbh) It was quite a romantic Italian image actually. Dad, Hugo, Oskar, and I bickering good-naturedly as we rolled the filling and cut and filled the pasta for that evening.
Mum asked me to take Felix to his piano lessons after that. I'd been in the car all day and fancied a walk so I decreed to Felix that we were to walk there (it's through a park; only about a 20 minute walk). We left a little early and I'm glad we did, because it gave us a little time to wander and look at things. The first thing we encountered was a dead Rosella. It still looked perfect, like it had just been frozen in time. Felix postulated that it had electrocuted itself accidentally while perching on an telephone wire and fallen off. (That reminds me: one day I'll post all my pictures of telephone wires).
We sat around the table talking till about 11. I drove them to the station and in the dark of my car Darnel said he liked my family. I do understand that - our family dynamic is very interesting. But, like magnesium burning in oxygen, the light can be blinding and leave your eyes stinging.
I drove home listening to watch and nightslayer and did the dishes while watching the new PAQ episode (which I loved - I know it's promotional but I LOVE the new Napipijri line's concept of finding your creative tribe and all that) and the new Cody Ko & Noel TMG podcast with Post Malone - they're in London with him as Post does the Reading and Leeds festivals and all that. I love that they've become friends - I don't even know how it happened but it makes sense. Post seems like a really nice guy with a very similar sense of humour who happens to also be a talented musician now with millions of dollars. Things are slotting together for them. Especially Noel, I think. But what do I know.
By then it was about 1. As I do almost every night, I lay on my bed listening to music resting, trying to summon the energy to have a shower. I've only started to really appreciate Wicca Phase, and these were some of my favourites, which I was listening to.
And, as I do too many nights, I ended up falling asleep like that and waking up cold, in my clothes, at 5am. I took my jeans and jumper off and turned off the lights and slid into my black hole of a bed and slid into the black hole of sleep.

Anyway. Had lots of cake and ice cream and the other gals had to leave for work / parties etc, so Laura and I hung out in her room as she was on RA duty and had to do twohourly rounds. At ten we got dominoes for dinner and had it at my place. She left at about 11 and then I had to pack for Sydney and I ended up going to bed around 3am.
Now the actual day: I woke up at 8 to drop Loz off at the Canberra Airport (lucky bitch is going to England - her 2nd trip to Europe in like 3 months - because she's doing a midsem marketing course there) and then I drove to Sydney. I always have this problem were the sound of the tires on the road lulls me to sleep, and this sleepiness was exacerbated by my five hours of sleep. It got to the point where it actually hurt to stay awake and I kept nodding off and drifting on the road so I pulled over at a rest station and slept for like 45 minutes. The world seemed so clean when I started driving again after that. Stopped at Sutton Forest maccas for breakfast and challenged myself even though I wasn't happy about it because I'm a legend who doesn't listen to her sick brain that wants to starve itself:

As we walked through the park we saw kids sledding on cardboard boxes down hills. We also saw a bus called "Big Mummer" (?):
I considered sending the picture to mum but I think she might have taken it the wrong way and killed me so I did not, and it resides only here.
On his piano teacher's street, we found a swing. After that, we found a little cat with the softest meows. We named it Lil Bo Peep. Influence obvious: Felix asks me for song recs sometimes and so listens to a lot of peep and Billie Eilish too. I'm trying to wean him off xxxtentacion.)
His piano teacher's household is very cute. Maria is a Russian pianist and her husband's an Australian flutist (?) and they have a little boy and a little girl who try to talk to me in half-English half-Russian and watch Peter Rabbit in Russian where I sit waiting for Felix's lesson to be over. I actually fell asleep this time haha. Then when we left the house it was cold and we walked the fast way home to a our grey house in the twilight with warm yellow light bursting out the windows and the comforting sound Nine news thickening the air.
I set the table and tried to calm down / relax a little bit before my friends / roommates came over but Mei Yee and Darnel (her bf) came pretty soon after that, and Sam soon after that. It was tiny bit awkward at first but we all warmed up and it was nice. They really liked the rav and afterwards we had chocolate soufflé and passionfruit ice cream dad had made. I don't really like soufflé that much and I was pretty full but I ate it anyway because that's what normal people do at dinner parties.
