Excuse me while I pretend do be some sort of beauty/lifestyle blogger. The house is very tense and shout-y at the moment which makes me very distressed, so hopefully writing something so light-hearted with soothe me and cheer me up a lil.
I don't intend to do monthly favourites or whatever; I just want to do them when I feel like it. This one will be probably from the last two weeks to a month. OK let's go. Fuck I'm in a bad mood.
Lip Stain
I got this one day in passing at Target when I was there with Felix to get something entirely related (what an American sentence!) - a lasagna tray. Because my mum threw out my dad's lasagna tray, apparently, but that dynamic's a whole other story. I had wanted a lip tint for AGES - ever since my friend Debbie got one in YEAR 8. I like the subtlety. I got it because my dad had given me his credit card so I wouldn't have to pay for it, haha. ANYWAY. I got it in this coral colour which I wouldn't have gotten as a lipstick, and it works well in that subtle way.
As you can see it has a really weird applicator, almost like a microphone wind sock:
It's more of a lip stain - it applies like lip gloss, but eventually it stains your lips to just make your lips look very naturally oxygenated / flushed / whatever. Here:
David Dobrik
Every holiday from since I was like 13 I fall into some sort of obsession. This summer holiday, it's been David Dobrik and his vlogs. They've helped distract me from being really upset. I started out just watching compilations - in fact, the very day I finished my last exam, I watched a video titled "Trisha Paytas Best Moments in David's Vlogs" :
- because she was a bit of a meme and I wanted to know what she was like. And I relished in the fact that I didn't have to feel guilty about watching a 40 minute youtube video. And I watched more of his vlog compilations from there. I'd known about David and his legendary nature for a while, mostly because I watch people who exist on the periphery of the vlog squad's social circle like Cody Ko and I'd heard about the Jason Nash and Trisha Paytas scandal, but I had been daunted by the sheer number of videos he has - when I start watching a youtuber, I have to watch EVERY video they've ever posted. I just do. So I started just watched "best of" compilations, and then I watching some older vlogs. I don't think I'll be able to watch all of them, which irritates me, but I feel like I know enough of the history now to be comfortable subscribing. I've been watching so much that my subscription box is FULL of unwatched videos from other Youtubers, which is very unlike me. My favourite moments:
I also listen to the podcast because it drowns out my voice in my head, which isn't very happy at the moment (more circumstantially than neurologically).
Also he's really cute.
I worry that right now's the beginning of the end for him, but I guess I can't do anything but watch.
CÅSTLES I & II
I've neglected the Castles and Castles II mixtapes (by Lil Peep and Lil Tracy) in the past - I had no idea witchblades was part of Castles II! But I have started to do this thing where I listen to the mixtapes all the way through, in order. Out of all their music, Castles I & II have the grungiest, darkest sound. I've read that, when writing and recording both mixtapes, they were deep, deep into cocaine binges, so it makes sense. Here are my favourite songs out of them:
Pastel fashion
I've been wearing colours I've never really worn before lately, and they're all pastel-y. And it's such a nice change of pace! It would look better if I were more tan rn, but I'm really enjoying it.
This blog
Posting here every day has kept me sane this holiday. Often I wake up and feel anxious and sad or like I'm not doing anything with my life, but I'll leave the house and start working on my post for the day and by the time I'm done, even if the post's not done, I feel so much better. I'm really scared that it might have to stop in a few days, when I begin my exchange semester in Shanghai.

(I know GCC isn't technically a CASTLES song, but it suits the vibe)
this one's heartbreaking
