powerlines [and other such angles]

I love powerlines. I think, just because of the geometry of things. But also, powerlines to exist in Singapore, at least, not above ground, and they were beautiful and novel to me when I first came back five years ago. Here are some pictures I have taken of them.

A lot of these photos, most obviously this one above, were taken on the periphery of Mount Ainslie. It's one of my favourite places in Canberra - I'd run in there in first year, not being able to tell until we're 10 meters apart if the grey thing on the side of the path is a kangaroo or a tree stump, and marvelling in the contrast between the severe powerlines and the soft nature. I'll be happy if I even came close to capturing this in the photos. (Mount Ainslie sounds like "Kangaroo" by This Mortal Coil and "Step" by Vampire Weekend. After I got back from these runs I'd shower, dress happy, and go ecstatically to class. First year was a good year.)

These past few have been from Japan, if you can't tell.
