My Cringey 14-Year-Old Tweets, Categorised

When I started at VJC in 2012, I was introduced to the world of twitter. I was always one of those kids who thought they were too cool for whatever social media was popular at the time, until they caved and joined, forfeiting whatever fake moral high ground they thought they had. I was late to Facebook, which I joined on my twelfth birthday because the boy I liked had facebook and I wanted to talk to him. I was late to Twitter, which I only joined a few months into 2012, upon noticing that that was where all the fun was at. What I discovered was another world, a second or third reality, where all my friends were talking to each other and retweeting jokes and revealing their emotions through guarded subtweets. It was so fun to be in physics class and look on your phone to see the whole class talking, through tweets and RTs and replies, about the shit they were doing instead of paying attention. Once, my friend sitting next to me tweeted "why is there a footprint on the ceiling?", and we watched everyone look up two seconds later. Once, in chemistry, my friend and I stole our friend Darrel's phone and retweeted all these #justgirlythings -type tweets from his account. Everyone stopped listening to class, turned to him, and went, "what the fuck, Darrel?"

Obviously, there was much fun to be had. This does mean, however, that my cringey teenage nature has been immortalised in my twitter profile. And this, I present to you, categorised for your ease of cringe.

Why Did I Retweet This Very Person-Specific Tweet by a Friend of Mine

So Deep I Can't See

Being Unwittingly Racist and/or Bigoted

Still Relevant

I do this to this day!!

It was a big day for our class. Innocences were lost.

I can't find a picture, but MAN I was ugly.

I didn't know what I was in for. People started talking in tongues. Maybe I should write a post about it.

He emails me to this day!!

7 years later and I still can't draw a pretty ohm.
