A Good Day At Uni

Yesterday was a good day, the kind I want all my days to be like.

It started off confused, because I looked at my phon and it was already 1pm (I'd worked till late the night before, but not late enough to warrant waking up at ONE). That meant I'd already missed half my maths tute on Zoom, but I didn't let myself get too distressed: I just said, okay,  I'll work through the questions myself and email my tutor if I need help. I drank coffee in bed while watching a new fashion video on youtube, and then went on tik tok for a bit. I decided I would go on campus to study, just so I'd have a reason to get dressed up. And I did get dressed up - I wore my pastel green singlet over my pastel lilac baby tee and my new denim cut-offs, and my converse and my VW pearl choker - A Fit. It was one of those outfits that perfectly matches the day, and makes you feel like you can do anything.

I walked to the post office at O'Connor shops to pick up a small parcel, then walked through Turner to uni. The sun was too lovely to waste in the library, so I let myself sit on the grass in Kambri and read ("Loner" by Georgina Small). About half an hour in, I heard someone say "Alessandra!" and there was Grover, my friend from maths. He's ridiculously smart and also a circus performer and also happens to be good-looking. He came and sat down and we talked for about half an hour (me secretly wishing he would ask me out).

After Grover left to go on a call, I finally went into the library (Chifley, to be exact) and started studying for maths. I did about an hour and a half of work (an achievement for me, these days), then got a kebab on campus for dinner. It was one of the netter kebab's I've had. Then I walked to Eleanor's in the dying light to watch Bachie. I couldn't remember her apartment number and she wasn't replying, so I just sat on a curb listening to music. Lauren turned up from home and she knew the apartment number and Eleanor buzzed us in. And there was Chloe, the housemate, and there was Lily, the cat, and we watched the Bachelorette. It was OK - I took the time to catch up on my Instagram feed.

Lauren and I walked home in the dark and cold through Haig Park. I didn't do any work after, though I'd planned to, which made me feel guilty. I half-rewatched somee of Normal People for the study and reading motivation (I don't know if I like the book or the show more - they both have their strengths)-

But yeah. Yesterday was A Good Day. A Good Day At Uni, if you will, and I realise such days are numbered for me - provided I pass my courses this semester.

I'm actually excited for the future. This is rare, and I hope it lasts. I know that once I finish uni, the existential dread will come back, but I hope it doesn't; I hope I hope I hope.
