Well, well, look who's inside again.
I was reading through my "quarantine favourites" blog post the other day, which, due to my prolonged absence, is not very far down from this one. I noticed that most of my "quarantine favourites" have endured the test of time - except for not washing my face, lol - that one didn't last very long. In any case, here are some new favourites, because - and if you are not from Australia you may not know this - Sydney is back in lockdown, and has been for almost a month, with another month looking possible.
Flavoured Sparkling Water
As urban legend warns, I went to Kmart for one thing one day early in lockdown, with the intention of purchasing one thing, and ended up buying all this other stuff that I didn't actually need. Well I went in looking for niacinamide, and ended up walking out with a new (glass) sippy cup! Which is my word for those closed cups with straws in them.
I've been putting soda water with lime or mango flavouring in the sippy cup, and, well, sipping on it while working on writing or watching TV shows on my laptop. There's just something about the sipping-with-a-straw aspect that is so fun and feels so cool. I'm doing it right now!!
Emma Chamberlain
I've always been a fan of Emma's - I've been subscribed to here since 2017, after listening to her on Cody Ko's old podcast. I particularly enjoy her fashion. But for the past three or so weeks, I've been obsessively rewatching her old videos, as well as her newer ones. I've heard (or rather, read) the phrase "comfort youtuber" being thrown around a lot, and so, I suppose, she is at this moment my comfort youtuber. I look forward to Monday mornings, because I know I'll wake up to a new video of hers in my subscription box.
Some of my favourite videos of hers:
Bo Burnham
I suppose this one comes as no surprise. Right before lockdown started, I watched his new special Inside. I won't go too deep into it here, because I still want to write a review of it (I am struggling, though, to write it, because I can't cohere my thoughts). On my first watch, I thought it was good, but not great. I decided to watch all of his specials again. I watched Words Words Words for the first time and didn't think it was great (its offensiveness also made it slightly hard to watch). I watched what. high, and it boggled my mind (I hadn't seen it in about three years), and then Make Happy.
I then rewatched Inside, and realised how brilliant it was, and how far Bo has come. Through the weeks of this rewatching saga, I got obsessed with all the songs from Inside, one by one. At the moment, I constantly have "30" and "Bezos I" stuck in my head, though my all-time faves are "Content", "Look Who's Inside Again", and, of course, "All Eyes On Me". I listen to that one over and over on my once-daily government-sanctioned walks, and think about the book I want to write.
Billie Eilish
After Billie's recent """""scandals"""", people have been pronouncing her a "flop", and hating on her most recent release, "NDA", saying that it sounds like Among Us music. While I see where they get the comparison from, I really like the song. I think it's catchy and poppy and dark at the same time, though I do think it's trying to be the "Bad Guy" of her new upcoming album. After watching the NDA music video, I watched the "Lost Cause" music video, and fell in love with it. In between Inside songs, I've been listening to NDA and Lost Cause on repeat.
